How to recover the funds if I lose my key?

To recover funds, the person trying to do it must have access to the recovery key(s) and ensure that the funds haven’t been moved for a set period (chosen when the wallet was created).

The recovery process depends on your situation:

  • If you don’t have Liana on your computer: You’ll need to restore the wallet first. To do this, you’ll need the recovery key(s) and the wallet descriptor.
  • If you already have Liana installed: Open the app with the specific wallet set up.

After opening or restoring the wallet, you’ll see on the home screen, under the balance, when the first recovery becomes available. Go to the settings menu. In the “recovery section”, you’ll see the coins available for recovery.

You’ll also check which hardware devices are needed to sign the transaction. After that, you’ll need to provide a destination address and set a fee rate.

Next, the wallet will create a Partially Signed Bitcoin Transaction (PSBT). You’ll then sign it with your hardware device(s). After the transaction is signed, you can broadcast it by clicking the corresponding button. After broadcasting, you can check the confirmation status of the coins on the home menu.
